The method

Eleven boxes. One reasoning. Your entire strategy.

Sound marketing stands on two legs: knowing who you are, and knowing how you turn a visitor into a loyal customer. Eleven boxes to think both, on one page.

Most marketing plans end up in a Drive folder no one reopens. Too long, too abstract, too disconnected from the decisions you have to make Monday morning. The DMC proposes the opposite: a frame so constrained it forces you to say what matters and defend it.

01

The fundamentals

Six boxes to say what you are: Mission and Vision at the top (the reason for being, the long-term direction), Brand on the left (the complete expression, rational and emotional), Target Audience on the right (the existing and ideal customers), Market at the bottom (your position against competitors), and Value Proposition at the center, tying them all together. Before thinking about how you attract or how you convert, you need to know what you stand for, who you talk to, and against whom you exist.

6 boxes Mission · Vision · Brand · Audience · Market · Value Proposition.
02

The customer journey

Five boxes for the AARRR funnel: Acquisition (bringing in visitors), Activation (reaching the 'aha' moment), Retention (bringing them back), Revenue (monetizing), Referral (turning them into ambassadors). Five measurable steps describing how a stranger becomes a user, then a customer, then a prescriber. Each step has its bottleneck, its metric, its levers.

5 boxes Acquisition · Activation · Retention · Revenue · Referral.
03

Eleven boxes, one reasoning

Eleven is few enough to fit on one page, and complete enough that no dimension is missing. The fundamentals feed the funnel: if acquisition stalls, the problem is rarely the ads, it's often the value proposition or the target audience. If retention drops, it's the brand or the mission that's no longer clear. The canvas gives you the eleven boxes, and most importantly the links between them. A solid growth strategy reads like reasoning, not like a checklist.

Jeremy Corman

I'm Jeremy Corman. I help founders build their marketing function the way you build a product: through iteration, on clear hypotheses, with documented decisions.

The Digital Marketing Canvas is the tool I've used for years in my workshops. I distribute it because it works better in the hands of a thousand people than in a private PDF.

If you print it, fill it, criticize it, drop me a line. That's how it improves.
